NEDC Delivers Relief Materials to Karim-Lamido Crisis Victims

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has distributed relief materials to families displaced by the recent communal crisis in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The distribution, held in Jalingo, brought together government officials, lawmakers, traditional rulers, religious leaders and community representatives.Taraba State Coordinator of the NEDC, Mallam Adamu M. Lawan, said the intervention was intended to ease the hardship faced by affected families while encouraging reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
The relief items included 990 bags of rice, 990 mats and 990 blankets for displaced households. Receiving the materials on behalf of the state government, Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Saviour Noku, described the intervention as timely and commended the commission for supporting affected communities.
Karim-Lamido Local Government Chairperson, Hon. Virginia Baba Bambur, assured that the items would be distributed transparently to verified beneficiaries.Community leaders also called for unity and lasting peace, saying the affected communities have a long history of peaceful coexistence despite the recent violence.
