The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), has commissioned a newly constructed State Command Headquarters in Taraba State and a modern Divisional Police Headquarters in Yorro Local Government Area, as part of efforts to strengthen policing infrastructure and enhance security operations across the country.
The projects were commissioned by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, represented by the Commissioner of Police, Taraba State Command, Morkwap Sebastine Dongshal. The event was attended by the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Mohammed Sheidu, alongside officials of the Taraba State Government and other stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, CP Dongshal expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund for their sustained investment in security infrastructure. He said the newly commissioned facilities would significantly improve operational efficiency, personnel welfare, and service delivery within the Force.
According to him, the projects align with the Inspector-General’s people-centred policing agenda, which prioritises modern infrastructure, enhanced welfare packages, and the creation of a conducive working environment for police personnel.
“The completion of these projects reflects the commitment of the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund to strengthening the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force and improving public safety across communities,” he stated.
Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Mohammed Sheidu, said the facilities were part of ongoing interventions aimed at addressing infrastructure gaps within the Police Force and supporting efforts to build a more effective and responsive policing system nationwide.
The newly commissioned Taraba State Police Command Headquarters is expected to serve as a central operational hub for security coordination in the state, while the modern Divisional Police Headquarters in Yorro Local Government Area will enhance law enforcement presence and response capabilities at the grassroots level.
Security stakeholders at the event described the projects as a major step toward improving policing standards, strengthening community security, and supporting the broader national objective of ensuring a safer environment for citizens and businesses.
The commissioning underscores the Federal Government’s continuing efforts to modernise police infrastructure and equip security agencies with the resources needed to effectively tackle emerging security challenges across Nigeria.
