The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected terrorists and a logistics supplier in separate operations across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, disclosed this while briefing journalists, stating that operatives of the Police Mobile Force attached to the Illo Division in Bagudo Local Government Area intercepted and arrested three suspected members of the Mamudawa group along the Illo-Lolo Road.
According to him, the suspects — Muhammadu Bandi, Aliyu Abubakar, and Muhammadu Abubakar — were apprehended while riding a motorcycle to Lolo town, allegedly to procure food supplies for other members of the group.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were linked to movements around the area during the attack that claimed the lives of three Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel in Illo on June 4, 2026,” Hadejia said.
The police commissioner further disclosed that four suspected members of the Lakurawa group were arrested on June 7, 2026, at about 4:30 p.m. along the Ka’oje–Bakin Ruwa Road in Bagudo Local Government Area.
He identified the suspects as Haruna Abubakar, Abubakar Lawali, Anme Shehu, and Yahaya Shehu, adding that they are being investigated for their alleged involvement in armed banditry in the Soda Forest area.
The case is currently being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi.
In a related development, the command also arrested one Murtala Sani of Zazzagawa village for allegedly providing logistics support to members of the Lakurawa group.
“He was observed on several occasions conveying one Amadu Umar, a suspected member of the Lakurawa terrorist group, from Zazzagawa town to a suspected criminal enclave in the area.
“The suspect is currently in custody and is assisting the police in ongoing investigations aimed at apprehending other suspects still at large,” he added.
