UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer resigns

Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister has announced his resignation as leader of the Labour Party, ending a tenure that lasted less than two years.
Starmer made the announcement on Monday during an emotional address outside 10 Downing Street, saying his decisions throughout his time in office had been driven by what he believed was best for the country.
“Every decision I have taken has been about putting the country I love first. That is why I will resign as leader of the Labour Party,” Starmer said.
The Labour leader became visibly emotional as he delivered the statement, confirming that the process of electing a new party leader would commence in July.
He, however, disclosed that he would remain as Prime Minister until a successor is chosen, with the transition expected to be completed by September.
