In a momentous ceremony, the Acting Secretary to the Yobe State Government, Dr. Mohammed Goje, on behalf of Governor Mai Mala Buni, officially presented the appointment letter to Alhaji Yerima Ibn Mahmud as the new Mai Ngazargamu. This event marks a significant transition for the emirate following the passing of the late Mai Ngazargamu, Alhaji Tijjani Ibn Saleh Geidam, who died recently in Egypt after a prolonged illness.
The presentation, which took place shortly after the Governor’s approval of the appointment, was attended by prominent traditional title holders, community leaders, government officials, and stakeholders of the Ngazargamu Emirate Council. Dr. Goje extended congratulations from Governor Buni to Alhaji Yerima, urging him to exhibit purposeful leadership while preserving the cultural heritage, peace, and unity of the emirate.
Recognized for his extensive experience in public service and traditional leadership, the new Mai Ngazargamu previously served as the Turakin Ngazargamu for 16 years, represented his constituency in the Yobe State House of Assembly, and held a position in the State Executive Council, including as Commissioner for Livestock Development.
At the event, community stakeholders expressed their loyalty and support for the new monarch, confident in his capabilities to uphold the legacies of his predecessors and to foster peace, stability, and development in the emirate.
Governor Buni called upon the people of Ngazargamu to rally around the new Mai, ensuring he is enabled to effectively fulfill his duties and contribute to socio-economic growth within the emirate and across Yobe State.
As Alhaji Yerima Ibn Mahmud steps into this vital role, the Ngazargamu Emirate anticipates a new era of unity, peace, and prosperity under his leadership, built on his wealth of experience and commitment to the community.
