The Ebonyi State chapter of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied reports on social media claiming that its structure the state has joined the ANYI G’EMEYA 2027 movement linked to Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, describing the information as false and misleading.
The party made its position known on Saturday, 4 July 2026, through a press release signed by its Ebonyi State Publicity Secretary, Nnanna Okereke. It asked the public to ignore the claim, saying no official or unofficial decision had been taken by the party in Ebonyi to leave the NDC or align with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or any other political group.
The NDC said its members in Onicha Local Government Area are loyal to the party and have not abandoned its platform. It also said the party structure in no part of Ebonyi State has moved into the ANYI G’EMEYA 2027 movement as claimed in online posts.

The party explained that while every Nigerian has the constitutional right to belong to any political party or movement, individual political choices should not be presented as the position of the entire party.
It also accused PDP media handlers of spreading false information about defections and urged them to promote their candidates and programmes with truthful information rather than what it described as propaganda.
Call for members to stay focused
The dispute followed the circulation of online posts claiming that the NDC organisation in Ebonyi had collapsed into a political movement linked to Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
In its response, the NDC said its attention was drawn to the reports after they gained attention on social media. The party insisted that no meeting, agreement or decision supported the claim being circulated.
The party also said it is concentrating on strengthening its presence among the people of Ebonyi State and does not intend to allow false reports to divert its attention from its political activities.
The NDC urged its members and supporters to stay calm and avoid reacting to the online reports. It said they should continue supporting the party without being influenced by claims of defections that it insisted never happened.
The statement ended with the party reaffirming that its Ebonyi State structure is united and committed to offering what it described as a credible political alternative, while maintaining that the social media reports should be completely disregarded.
