The wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Remi Tinubu, on Tuesday distributed food items to widows, vulnerable groups and elders in Ondo State to cushion the effects of the economic hardship.
Represented by the wife of Vice President, Hajjia Nana Shetima, the First Lady said the Renewed Hope Initiative social empowerment programmes were meant to tackle malnutrition among the downtrodden in the federation.
She explained that the Food Outreach Scheme is meant to give the vulnerable groups access to nutritious food items to check malnutrition.
The wife of the president appreciated the donors, BUA Group and another who preferred to remain anonymous, saying their contributions had made the initiative successful at the grassroots.
She, therefore, performed the symbolic presentation of the items and cash to some of the beneficiaries.
The First Lady said: “I am pleased to be here for the formal presentation of food items to our Excellency, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa. Thank you, Your Excellency, for honouring this distribution to our beneficiaries.
“The Food Outreach Scheme, under the Social Investment Programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative, was launched in March 2014 to provide food items to persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, thereby supporting their families and improving their well-being.
“These acts of kindness have remained possible through the generous support of our food donors, who have committed themselves to transform our food items to the Renewed Hope Initiative’s aim and purpose.
“Now, through this supply, two states are supported locally. This particular supply is from the Abdulsamad Rabiu Initiative. I thank the two donors for their generosity and sustained commitment to support the vulnerable in their work.
“We have successfully distributed food items to 27 states, including the Federal Capital Territory.
“Our goal at the Renewed Hope Initiative is to complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, by supporting Nigerians to strive and achieve their aspirations, in every aspect of their circumstances, as part of our broader effort to address insecurity and malnutrition.
“We launched the initial community-led project for the Northern Zone in Benue State in May 2017, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and others.
The North-West Community Fund was subsequently launched in Jigawa State on 29th June 2026. While the South-West border was launched, it is expected to take place in August 2026.
“This initiative is designed to combine strategic collaborations by bringing access to nutrition, food, and trusted community support systems for the average child, as well as the opportunity to grow and enhance healthy food structures.
“I commend the government of the Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for your commitment, and for your commitment to welfare and the well-being of your children.

At this juncture, for the glory of my God, and for the benefit of humanity, I hereby present these items to the First Lady of Ondo State.”
In her address, the wife of Ondo State governor, Seun Aiyedatiwa, appreciated the First Lady for extending the programme to Ondo State.
She explained that the programme has made a great impact in the lives of the people.
Represented by the wife of the state deputy governor, Dr. Bosede Adelami, Aiyedatiwa assured the First Lady of proper distribution of the items to the grassroots.
In his address, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa described the Food Outreach Scheme as a way of showing compassion and sharing to uplift the vulnerable groups.
He appreciated the First Lady for what he described as enormous support for the initiative to alleviate poverty in the country.
“We have declared Ondo State for Tinubu/Shetima, and we are not wavering in our determination to deliver the state to him in 2027.”
Present at the event are the wife of Osun State governor, Titilola Adeleke, the wife of Ogun State governor, Bamidele Abiodun, the wife of Jigawa State governor, Hajjia Hadisa, the wife of the Minister of Interior, Abimbola Tunji-Ojo, the wife of the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Halimatu Pate, and other personalities.
