How to Apply for FG’s Laptop and Smartphone Loan Scheme

By Abigail David
The Federal Government has opened applications for its new Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, enabling Nigerians to acquire laptops, smartphones and tablets through flexible credit arrangements.
The initiative is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. It was launched in Abuja by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, alongside CREDICORP Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Uzoma Nwagba.
The programme aims to improve access to digital devices by allowing eligible Nigerians to spread payments over time instead of paying the full purchase price upfront. The pilot phase focuses on locally assembled laptops as part of efforts to support local manufacturing.

Interested applicants can apply by following these steps:

The current pilot phase covers 1,000 laptops and is initially targeted at fellows of the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme. According to CREDICORP, 77 beneficiaries have already received devices in Abuja, while the remaining laptops will be distributed to qualified participants across other states in phases.
Although the application form also lists programmes such as Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX Africa, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa and Genesys Tech Hub, CREDICORP has not officially confirmed whether participants from those programmes are eligible during the current pilot phase.
The corporation has also not yet announced the interest rates, repayment period or any required down payment for the digital device loans.
