How To Renew Your Passports Online: A Step-By-Step Guide For Nigerians Abroad

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has released a step-by-step guide to help Nigerians living abroad renew their passports online through its Contactless Passport Application System.

The Service shared the guide on its official X handle on Tuesday, urging Nigerians in the diaspora to take advantage of the digital platform for passport renewal.

Hereunder is the step-by-step guide on how Nigerians living abroad can renew their passports online

The NIS, however, noted that not all applicants would qualify for the contactless process.

“If response is INELIGIBLE, then it means the applicant should return to the landing page of the portal to book a physical appointment at the Embassy/High Commission,” the Service stated.

For applicants who successfully complete the contactless biometric enrolment, the Service advised them to print their application form, passport booklet payment receipt, biometric payment receipt and current passport, then enclose the documents in a self-addressed return envelope and send them to the processing embassy or high commission selected during the application process.

The Service added that applicants can track the progress of their passport applications two weeks after submission through the NIS tracking portal or the NIS Mobile App.
