The drive to reposition the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ekiti State received a significant boost as the State Coordinator, Mr. Adeola Abiodun Ige, secured fresh commitments from the traditional institution and the National Assembly towards the rehabilitation and modernisation of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ise-Orun/Emure Ekiti.
The assurances were given during a courtesy visit by the State Coordinator to the palace of Oba James Babatunde Ajiboye, where he appealed to the monarch to mobilise well-meaning sons and daughters of Ekiti State to support the upgrading of facilities at the orientation camp.
Mr. Ige noted that improving the camp’s infrastructure remains a critical aspect of his administration’s commitment to repositioning the Scheme in the state. He also reminded the royal father of his earlier pledge to construct a pavilion at the orientation camp, expressing optimism that the promise would soon be fulfilled.
Responding, Oba Ajiboye warmly received the State Coordinator and reaffirmed his commitment to honouring his earlier promise to build the pavilion. The monarch further assured him that he would engage prominent indigenes of Ekiti State, as well as the State Government, to attract additional support for the development of the camp.
In a demonstration of his commitment, the royal father placed a telephone call to Adeyemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth Development, who promptly joined the discussions.
Following the meeting, the monarch, the State Coordinator and Senator Adaramodu proceeded to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp for an on-the-spot assessment of its facilities. The inspection revealed that several critical infrastructure at the camp require urgent rehabilitation and upgrading.
At the end of the inspection, both the monarch and the senator expressed concern over the condition of the camp and unanimously agreed on the need for immediate intervention. They pledged to prevail on the Executive Governor of Ekiti State to prioritise the rehabilitation of the orientation camp while also committing to personally facilitate the construction of various projects that would give the facility a modern outlook.
The visit marks another milestone in the State Coordinator’s ongoing stakeholder engagement drive aimed at strengthening partnerships and mobilising support for the transformation of the NYSC Scheme in Ekiti State.
