Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has strengthened its campus security with the deployment of two operational vehicles and the introduction of additional measures aimed at tackling cultism and other criminal activities. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman announced the initiatives during an Expanded Security Stakeholders’ Meeting at the university’s Council Chamber.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, one vehicle has been assigned to the Joint Security and Anti-Cultism Squad, while the second will support routine patrols by the university’s Security Patrol Team to improve safety on campus and in surrounding communities. Prof. Usman said the university has also reconstituted its Students’ Disciplinary Committee and Examination Misconduct Committee to strengthen discipline and enforce institutional regulations.
He further announced the establishment of a Committee on Behavioural Change and Cult Renunciation to identify, counsel and rehabilitate students involved in anti-social activities, while warning that those who refuse to abandon criminal conduct would face legal consequences.The Vice-Chancellor also dismissed a viral social media video alleging cult-related activities at the university, stating that the incident did not occur at PAAU or in Kogi State.
He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to working with security agencies, traditional rulers and host communities to maintain a safe environment for teaching, learning and research. Traditional rulers, local government officials and security stakeholders at the meeting pledged continued support for the university’s security initiatives.
