Peter Obi: Political participation must be protected, not hindered – OK Movement

The OK Movement says political participation in Nigeria’s democracy must be protected and not hindered.

The Movement made this remark in a post on its verified X handle on Wednesday.

It was reacting to the statement made by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, that he might not be alive to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Obi had alleged that his life is under threat, claiming he is being deliberately frustrated and targeted by the government.

Reacting, the OK Movement said, “The concerns raised by our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, are deeply troubling. In a democracy, political participation must be protected, not hindered.

“We on all relevant institutions to uphold the rule of law, respect the rights of every citizen, and ensure a level playing field for all political actors.

“Nigeria deserves a democracy where ideas compete freely, not one where fear or intimidation has any place. Nigeria will be OK.”
