They Paid Me ¢150 And Promised Me Free Fuel — Man Exposes NPP After Being Hired To Join Miracle Aboagye’s Arrest Protect At EOCO

A man identifying himself as an NPP supporter has claimed he was paid to join Monday’s protest at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) headquarters, telling reporters he was called by colleagues, given fuel for his motorbike, and promised GH¢150 to participate in the demonstration.

“I was home when my colleagues called me to come with my bike to join them for the demonstration. They gave us fuel and promised us GH¢150,” he said, speaking at the scene of the protest.

The demonstration was organised by supporters of the New Patriotic Party demanding the release of the party’s Communications Director, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who was arrested at Kotoka International Airport on Saturday over an EOCO investigation into alleged misappropriation of roughly GH¢55 million in public funds linked to his former role at the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation.

NPP leadership, including National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye and General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, have publicly framed the protest as a spontaneous response from concerned party members and supporters.

The man’s claim of inducement has not been corroborated by other protesters or confirmed by NPP officials, and it remains unclear who allegedly organised the payments or fuel distribution he described.

The protest has drawn continued attention amid the wider standoff between the NPP and EOCO, with the anti-graft agency maintaining that its investigation into Aboagye is being conducted lawfully and without political motive.
