A dramatic escalation in coordinated illegal Israeli settler rampages, torched mosques, and punitive military raids has pushed the occupied West Bank to the brink of a full-scale regional crisis.
In response to the sharp deterioration of security conditions across the territory, the US Embassy in Israel announced temporary travel restrictions for its personnel and their families, urging them to avoid all non-essential movement and public gatherings through at least Wednesday.
The State Department confirmed it remains in continuous dialogue with regional partners regarding the precarious security environment.
Illegal settler attacks intensify
Recent weeks have seen a succession of attacks by illegal Israeli settlers targeting Palestinian towns and villages.
Homes, farmland and vehicles have been set ablaze, while several communities have reported repeated assaults, intimidation campaigns and attempts to force residents from their land.
In the village of Jalud, south of Nablus, a Palestinian family was forced to abandon its home after nearly three months of escalating harassment.
According to local sources, Israeli settlers established an illegal outpost nearby, setting the family’s house on fire, cutting electricity supplies and blocking access to food, water and medical assistance before eventually taking over the property.
Palestinian officials and rights groups say such incidents are becoming increasingly frequent across the occupied West Bank.

The targeted mosques — the Al-Rahma mosque in Qusra, south of Nablus, and a local mosque in the village of Kour, near Tulkarem — suffered extensive structural damage.

Security footage from Kour showed three illegal settlers detonating explosives at the building’s entrance.
Palestinian officials report that at least 45 mosques have been vandalised or burned by illegal settlers in 2025 alone, demonstrating a deliberate strategy to terrorise local Palestinian communities and force them off their ancestral land.
The mosque burnings followed a fatal clash on Friday in the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus, where illegal armed settlers entered restricted Palestinian land under the guise of an unauthorised hike.
The intrusion led to physical altercations and gunfire, resulting in the deaths of four members of the local Ramadan family — Ibrahim, Jawad, Farouq, and Imran — as well as an Israeli soldier and a “settlement security coordinator.”
