The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA), in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has distributed relief materials to households affected by recent rainstorms and windstorms in Zing Local Government Area.The intervention reached communities including Zing A, Zing B, Sabon Peggi, Monkin A, Monkin B, Bitako, Bubong and Yakoko.
Representing the NEMA Director-General, Zubaida Umar, Malut Adam Hussain conveyed the agency’s sympathies to the affected residents and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting communities affected by disasters.The Director of Technical Services at TSEMA, Bakari Karfe Kwanci, who represented the agency’s Executive Secretary, Echuseh Audu, also conveyed Governor Agbu Kefas’s solidarity with the affected households.
Kwanci said the intervention was aimed at addressing immediate needs and supporting the recovery of residents affected by the storms. He urged beneficiaries to make prudent use of the relief materials.He commended the collaboration between TSEMA and NEMA and acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders to the distribution process.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Village Head, Peter Makwa Matsayi, thanked the state and federal governments for responding to the affected communities. He said the assistance would help residents cope with the immediate impact of the storms and ease the hardship caused by the incidents. Officials said the distribution was conducted peacefully and transparently, adding that the intervention was part of broader efforts to strengthen disaster response and resilience in Taraba State.
