‘We won’t negotiate with bandits’ — Zamfara LG chairman declares

The Chairman of Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Yahaya Abubakar Yari, has declared that his administration will not tolerate any form of negotiation with bandits operating within the area.
Yari stated this in a video circulating on social media, warning residents against engaging in talks or entering into unauthorised peace agreements with criminal groups.
According to the council chairman, anyone found negotiating with bandits would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He said the stance reflects the local government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities in the area.
Yari maintained that security challenges should be addressed through coordinated law enforcement operations rather than informal arrangements with armed groups.
The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to work with relevant authorities to improve security and restore peace across communities in Talata Mafara Local Government Area.
His remarks come amid ongoing efforts by security agencies and government authorities to curb banditry and other forms of insecurity in Zamfara State.
