The Alia Alliance, a formidable coalition of political stakeholders, appointees, and grassroots supporters committed to the progressive vision of His Excellency, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, PhD, has passed an overwhelming vote of confidence on the Governor and his administration.
At a well-attended emergency meeting held on Saturday in Abuja, members of the Alliance unanimously reaffirmed their steadfast support for Governor Alia’s leadership, acknowledging the remarkable strides recorded across various sectors of Benue State’s development under his watch.
In a statement by the Publicity Secretary, Benjamin Tyokegh, the Alliance commended the Governor’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure renewal, agricultural transformation, security, and the overall welfare of the people of Benue State.
He maintained that the vote of confidence comes on the heels of the recent resignation of Dr. Jimmy Ajim as Director General, Plenipotentiary and Liaison Affairs, Abuja. While Dr Ajim was a respected member of the Alia Alliance, the Alliance wishes to make it unequivocally clear that his resignation—which he explicitly attributed to personal reasons in his letter dated July 30, 2026, addressed to Governor Alia—does not in any way diminish the Alliance’s collective resolve or alter its position regarding the Alia administration.
He further added that Dr. Ajim, who served the Benue State Government with dedication and professionalism, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as “a profound privilege”. His resignation takes effect from August 10, 2026, and he has indicated his willingness to support a smooth handover of responsibilities. The Alia Alliance respects his decision and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
He said that Alia Alliance remains solidly united and unshaken in its collective resolve to ensure the re-election of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, PhD, in the 2027 governorship election. This commitment is non-negotiable and irreversible.
