2027: Yari, Seyi Tinubu plot youth-driven APC campaign push
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is preparing to place young Nigerians at the centre of its 2027 campaign machinery, while the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) seeks to turn youth networks, community structures, and digital platforms into channels for selling President Bola Tinubu’s record to voters.
The strategy took shape in Abuja on Thursday when the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, received Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, for discussions on youth mobilisation ahead of the general election.
Seyi Tinubu was accompanied by the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande.
Yari said young Nigerians would be central to the campaign’s effort to communicate the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, the economy and security.
Yari said in a statement issued by the Media Office of the APC PCC: “Young people are not just the future of this country, they are the present.
“If we are going to tell the true story of what this administration has achieved, from infrastructure to the economy to security, it is our youth who will carry that message furthest, fastest, and most convincingly.”

The APC campaign chief said the meeting with Seyi was aimed at “building bridges”, while praising his involvement in youth empowerment and engagement.
He indicated that the campaign was looking beyond conventional political structures as it prepares to reach a generation that consumes much of its political information through social media and community-based networks.
“We are not just asking young Nigerians to vote, we are asking them to become ambassadors of the Renewed Hope story in their communities, online and offline,” Yari said.
The proposed framework will combine digital communication with grassroots mobilisation. Yari disclosed that the Campaign Council was finalising a nationwide youth outreach plan that would deploy social media, community networks, and existing grassroots structures to promote the administration’s policies and achievements.
The emphasis on young people reflects their significance in Nigeria’s electoral landscape. Beyond their numerical strength, they constitute a large and highly connected audience whose political conversations increasingly take place on social media platforms.
Yari said this digital reach could help the campaign respond to misinformation while giving young supporters information with which to present the government’s record.
“Every young Nigerian with a phone and a voice is a potential messenger for this administration’s impact. Our job is to equip them with the facts and the platform to tell that story authentically,” he said.
The proposed mobilisation model could therefore give the APC a network that operates beyond rallies and traditional party meetings. Supporters would be expected to carry campaign messages into their communities while also participating in online conversations where political narratives are formed and contested.
Yari also welcomed Seyi’s visit, portraying his participation as a sign of confidence in the Campaign Council and its youth mobilisation agenda.
The meeting points to an early attempt by the ruling party to build a campaign structure capable of reaching young voters through the spaces where they live, organise and exchange information. With the 2027 contest approaching, the APC is seeking to make youth engagement a central component of its effort to retain political support for Tinubu’s administration.
