Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has renewed his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027, hours after securing another four years as governor of the state.

He also thanked Tinubu for congratulating him and praised the President for supporting a free and fair election in Osun.

“At this point, I must deeply appreciate Mr. President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election.
“Mr. President is a son of Osun State, and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election,” Adeleke said.
Adeleke backs Tinubu again
The governor had endorsed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election before the Osun governorship poll. Adeleke was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party before defecting to the Accord Party ahead of the election.
His renewed endorsement came shortly after the election result gave him a second term as governor.
He won 511,067 votes on the Accord Party platform. His closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, scored 444,815 votes.
The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
The result showed that Adeleke won 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, giving him the required victory for another term in office.
The State Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, declared Adeleke winner at about 7:24 am on Sunday.
Adeleke first became governor in 2022 under the PDP. He contested the 2026 election under the Accord Party and secured another term.
Governor thanks President
Earlier on Sunday, He thanked Tinubu for personally calling to congratulate him after the election result.
The governor also said he expected Oyebamiji to congratulate him, describing such an act as part of civilised conduct after an election.
“Yes. This is no victor, no vanquished. I want them to come over. I am expecting Oyebamiji to even, as a civilised person, to call me and congratulate me,” he said.
“And of course, I want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr. President. Mr. President has called me and he has congratulated me. And I thank you, Mr. President, for making sure democracy lives on, because you fought for it, Mr. President.”
The governor’s comments put his support for Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid on record again after his victory in the Osun governorship election.
Tinubu is now the presidential candidate backed by Adeleke, who will begin his second term as Osun governor after winning the August 15 poll.
