Suspected bandits have killed 10 policemen and two civilians while two others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The incident occurred in Rafin Makuku village in Sakaba local government area of Kebbi State.
The deceased lost their lives during an encounter with heavily armed groups suspected to be bandits moving from Zamfara State to Kebbi State on Monday evening.
The remains of the officers have been conveyed to Birnin Kebbi and security personnel have been deployed to the area to pursue the fleeing bandits.
Although there was no official confirmation from the Kebbi State Police Command, a statement from the Force Headquarters yesterday condoled with the victims’ families and promised to support them and the injured personnel.
