Concerned Citizen Accuses WAEC Of Deliberately Delaying 2026 WASSCE Results Just To Collapse Private SHSs In Ghana 

A concerned citizen has raised concerns over the delay in the release of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), alleging that the delay could negatively affect private senior high schools in Ghana.

According to the individual, the delay in publishing the results is creating uncertainty for students, especially those who may not meet the required grades and may need to rewrite some papers in the next examination cycle.

He argued that the situation could put private schools and their students at a disadvantage, particularly because the registration deadline for the 2027 WASSCE is reportedly set for August 31.

The concerned citizen further claimed that WASSCE results have already been released in some other participating countries, raising questions about why Ghanaian students are still waiting.

He expressed fears that students who need to resit examinations may struggle to meet deadlines if the results are released too late, potentially affecting their academic plans.

However, WAEC has not confirmed the allegations that the delay is deliberate or intended to affect private schools.

The examination body is yet to provide further details on the reasons behind the delay and the expected release date of the results.
