Senator Francis Fadahunsi has been summoned by the Osun State Police Command over a reported threat against Accord Party members ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East in the Senate, was summoned by the Commissioner of Police in charge of the election, Samuel Etaifo, the police command confirmed on Wednesday.
The development came after a video circulated on social media showing Fadahunsi speaking in Yoruba at an event in Ilesa, Osun State. In the video, he was heard threatening to kill Accord members seen in Ilesa before election day.

NEW DAILY PRIMW revealed that the police command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the summons during a telephone interview.
“I can confirm that he (Fadahunsi) has been summoned by the CP. We will make a statement available regarding it,” Ojelabi said.
The police action places the senator’s comments under formal scrutiny just three days before voters are due to elect the next governor of Osun State.
Video sparks political tension
Fadahunsi and Francis Eniade, the All Progressives Congress candidate for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, came under fire on Tuesday over separate comments about Accord members.
Fadahunsi spoke at the palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland in Ilesa during a protest over the alleged killing of three APC members in the town on Tuesday.
In the video, Fadahunsi said, “How many people have you seen the APC kill? We are here to tell you that until the day of the election, If we see any Accord member in Ilesa, we will kill them.”
The remarks triggered a response from Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who demanded the senator’s arrest.
Adeleke said the senator’s words could lead to mass killing. He said he had raised the issue with Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu and requested Fadahunsi’s investigation and arrest.
The governor also said the IGP confirmed that the video existed and assured him that action would be taken.
“The second issue has to do with the viral video of a serving Senator, Francis Fadahunsi, who today called for the killing of Accord Party leaders, supporters and their families. In the video, the Senator even threatened that where they cannot get Accord Party leaders, they should kill their wives and children.
“This is now beyond politics. This is now a national security threat that requires the attention of Mr President through the Office of the National Security Adviser,” Adeleke said.
The police summons now gives the matter a formal law enforcement dimension ahead of Saturday’s poll.
Fadahunsi rejects interpretation
Fadahunsi has denied that the video represented the message he intended to give, saying his words were taken from a longer speech and presented in a misleading way.
He said the video circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms had been edited from a speech that lasted about 24 minutes.
Fadahunsi said he had referred to the killing of one Rogba in Esa-Oke by his co-cultists. He also said the governor had referred to the deceased as his son and had disagreed with a sitting member of the House of Representatives on live television.
“My statement was very clear: if the killings do not stop, we shall also retaliate,” he said.
He said people being killed were Nigerians from the same communities and that APC members would defend themselves if more killings occurred.
“All those being killed are Nigerians and, indeed, sons and daughters of the same communities. I stated unequivocally that if our party members are killed again, we will not simply fold our arms and watch. We will defend our people, even if such an incident occurs on election day.”
Fadahunsi also accused Davido and Pelumi Olajengbesi of taking less than two minutes from his 24-minute speech and circulating the section online.
“Unfortunately, Davido and Olajengbesi took less than two minutes from a speech that lasted about 24 minutes and circulated it to achieve cheap political objectives. This is a clear case of deliberate misrepresentation and manipulation,” he said.
