Ghana Police Clash With Obuasi Youth At Night, Fire Warning Shots, Burn Over 15 Motorbikes During Night Raid

Tension has reportedly erupted at Tutuka-Boete in Obuasi after police officers allegedly fired about 30 warning shots during a night operation aimed at arresting suspected drug dealers in the area.

According to reports, the police moved into the community after receiving information that some young people gathered at the location were allegedly involved in the sale and use of marijuana and other hard drugs.

The operation reportedly turned chaotic when some of the youth clashed with the police, leading officers to fire several warning shots to control the situation and disperse the crowd.

Sources indicate that about 15 motorbikes were burnt during the incident, leaving some residents shocked by the scale of the operation.

However, some young people who were not arrested have denied allegations that they were involved in illegal drug activities.

They claimed they only gathered at the location to interact, relax, and discuss issues among themselves, insisting that they were not selling or using any banned substances.

The incident has generated mixed reactions among residents and social media users, with some supporting the police action against suspected criminal activities, while others are demanding clarity on the circumstances that led to the destruction of the motorcycles and the use of force.

The Ghana police are yet to release an official statement detailing the full outcome of the operation and the number of arrests made.
