More than 115,000 people have been evacuated from flood-prone areas in China’s northwestern Shaanxi province after torrential rains triggered widespread flooding and heightened the risk of landslides, state media reported on Tuesday.
Provincial authorities relocated 115,756 residents from 49,925 households as heavy rainfall swept across large parts of Shaanxi, according to China Central Television and local officials.
The heaviest downpours were recorded in Luonan, Tongguan and Baihe counties, with Shipo station in Luonan receiving 136.4 millimetres of rain.

Flood warnings remain in place
The intense rainfall caused flooding in the Hanjiang, Weihe, Danjiang and Yiluo river basins, where 28 rivers and 40 hydrological stations recorded dozens of flood peaks.
