Nigerian Soldiers Injured As Army Patrol Truck Crashes In Abia

Several Nigerian Army personnel sustained varying degrees of injury on when a military patrol truck lost control and crashed along Ohafia Road in Abia State.

The incident occurred during a heavy morning downpour as the military vehicle was descending a sloped section of the highway.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle skidded off the slick asphalt while moving at considerable speed, causing it to lose traction and veer violently into the road.

Footage circulating on social media, seen by NAIJAONPOINT, showed the chaotic aftermath along the stretch of expressway, where the asphalt was coated in red mud washed down from nearby hills.

Civilians, commercial motorcyclists, and passengers from passing vehicles were seen halting their journeys to offer assistance.

Good Samaritans were seen lifting injured soldiers, covered in mud and visibly shaken, into nearby civilian vehicles and public transit buses to be rushed for emergency medical treatment.

Inside one of the rescue vehicles, commuters were seen assisting a soldier lying on the floor in military trousers as he tended to his injuries and unlaced his mud-clogged combat boots.

Another armed soldier, who appeared uninjured, stood guard near the crash site while coordinating recovery efforts alongside civilians.

While the total casualty figure remains unconfirmed, preliminary reports indicate that at least two soldiers suffered serious injuries and were evacuated from the scene.

Authorities are expected to provide further details as rescue operations conclude and the wreckage is cleared from the roadway.
