•Questions Killings, Suffering Despite Endorsing President Re-election
Governor Ademola Adeleke has directly called out President Bola Tinubu over alleged state-sponsored repression in Osun, warning that the state will resist any rigging plot ahead of the August 15 poll.
Addressing his supporters at a campaign rally in Osogbo on Monday, Adeleke questioned the killings and suffering in the state despite the Accord Party and Osun people endorsing Tinubu for a second term.
“President Tinubu, I am passing this message to you. What do you want Osun to do? We have endorsed you for a second term. Why are they killing us? The police have been compromised,” the governor said.
Adeleke, who described himself as the Chief Security Officer of the state, vowed that Osun would not accept any attempt to rig the governorship election.
“Osun will not accept any rigging. We will go out en masse and vote and defend our votes,” he declared.
He urged the president not to prevent a repeat of the 1983 political incident in the state.
“Let me repeat this: don’t let what happened in 1983 happen again.”
The governor alleged that Accord Party members had been the primary targets of attacks in the last three months.
According to him, seven members have been killed, over 20 sustained various gunshot wounds, and more than 60 are currently in illegal police detention.
“I want to inform Mr President that my people are being killed on a daily basis. Elements within the police are aiding the APC thugs to kill our people. Mr President, Osun is bleeding, and your urgent intervention is necessary,” Adeleke told the cheering crowd.

He further stated that the Osun election was drawing both national and international attention, with embassies and human rights groups documenting alleged abuses.
“The Osun election is attracting national and international attention. Several embassies are filing reports of human rights abuses. Local and international human rights groups are having a new focus on the deliberate violence being unleashed on Osun people,” he said.
Adeleke also questioned why the state was suffering despite its support for the President, and urged Tinubu to act as the father of the Nation.
“We have endorsed your re-election. We have demonstrated our love for you. Instead of killing our people, now is the time for stakeholders to show love to Osun people,” the governor added.
