•As Ooni, Ogunsua Pray For His Re-Election
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Monday said Osun people have decided to give him four more years, declaring that he has the numbers and the backing of the masses to emerge victorious in the August 15 governorship election. INEC has fixed the election for Saturday.
Speaking at the palaces of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Toriola, Adeleke urged voters to remain vigilant and protect their votes.
“There are many reasons why the opposition are growing desperate. I have the numbers to win. I have the backing of the masses of our people. Don’t fight them. Use your vote to speak,” the governor was quoted as saying in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
Adeleke, who was in the ancient towns to commission projects including the Lagere Flyover, told supporters to act as civilian vigilantes, monitor the distribution of materials and follow results to collation centres.
“The victory is ours as we have the people and God. By next week, we shall be celebrating a victory granted by God and Osun people,” the governor added.
Listing reasons why Osun people want him reelected, Adeleke cited massive infrastructure delivery, workers’ welfare, and projects across the state.
The statement said the Ooni, during the visit, prayed for God and the deities to grant Adeleke mercy, grace, victory and survival.
“I thank the governor for this road, this bridge we have never seen before. The governor surprised us. The governor uplifted Ile Ife. I am not a politician, but we must appreciate any public official who performed well,” the Ooni was quoted as saying.

At Modakeke, the Ogunsua also prayed for the governor’s success and lauded him for interventions in the community.
“We want more of you, Mr Governor. We want you to continue in office. Our people are ready to further show support for you. By God’s grace, we will not see Amubo in Osun State,” the monarch said.
Responding, Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to continuous development and warned against returning the state to “the dark era.”
