Police Arrest 12-Year-Old Boy and Truck Driver After Video of Teen Driving Articulated Truck Went Viral

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 12-year-old boy and a 34-year-old man after a viral video showed the child driving a DAF XF 105 articulated truck with registration number GS 3097-20.

According to the police, the 34-year-old man is suspected to be the truck’s driver and is believed to have allowed the minor to operate the heavy-duty vehicle.

The two are currently in the custody of the Central Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in Accra, where they are assisting with investigations.

In a statement, the Police Service warned parents, guardians and vehicle owners against allowing minors or unlicensed persons to drive, especially heavy-duty vehicles.

The police said such actions pose serious dangers to road users and violate the Road Traffic Act.

The Service also urged members of the public to support road safety by reporting similar incidents and promoting responsible driving on Ghana’s roads.
