She Married an Okada Rider With Nothing — 15 Years Later, They Own Houses Everywhere
A Nigerian woman has shared an inspiring account of how she married her husband when he had virtually nothing, choosing to build a life with him despite his humble beginnings.
According to the woman, her husband was once an Okada rider and had very little to his name when they got married. At the time, he could not afford their wedding and was living in a modest accommodation in Suleja, Niger State.
She revealed that she could have chosen a different path, including marrying someone living abroad, but eventually decided to stand by the man she loved.
“When I met my husband, even our wedding, he could not afford it. I was the one who said, ‘Don’t worry, God will do it.’ We did what we could do,” she recalled.
She explained that her husband’s circumstances at the time were far removed from where he is today. From riding a commercial motorcycle, he has gone on to become the Chief Executive Officer of King Flash Photography.
Fifteen years into their marriage, she said the family has been blessed with properties in Abuja and other locations, describing their journey as a testimony of perseverance, partnership and faith.
“Today now, God has helped us. We have houses, not just a house in Abuja, but outside Abuja, everywhere. And God has been faithful in 15 years,” she said.
Reflecting on her experience, she urged young people, particularly women, not to make marriage decisions solely based on a person’s present financial status.
Her message was that wealth can change, circumstances can improve, and a person’s current condition does not necessarily define their future.
“One advice I’ll give to the younger generation is, don’t marry a man because of what you’re seeing,” she said.
Her story has sparked conversations about love, patience, partnership and the importance of recognising potential beyond a person’s immediate circumstances.
For her, the journey is a reminder that while financial stability is important in marriage, a couple’s willingness to build together, support one another and remain committed through difficult seasons can also shape the future they eventually create.
