Media personality Daddy Freeze has stirred reactions online after urging landlords in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria to think twice before renting out their properties or vacant plots of land to churches.
Daddy Freeze made the remarks in a video circulating on social media, where he claimed that while churches may pay higher rent than regular tenants, some allegedly become difficult to evict after taking possession of a property.
According to him, landlords could eventually find themselves in disputes over properties they originally leased to churches.
Addressing property owners, Daddy Freeze said:
“This is for all landlords in Lagos and even across the country. Stop renting your houses out to churches, stop lending your land out to churches because you see let me tell you the funny thing is they pay better than most tenants but they will never leave and after a while they want to take over your property.”
He clarified that he was not accusing every church of engaging in such practices but alleged that the situation was common with “most churches.”
He further warned landlords against giving out undeveloped land to churches, claiming that some could eventually attempt to take full control of the property.
“They go collect your property. They will come as tenants before you know it they go take over your whole property. Stop renting your house especially your empty land to church.”
Daddy Freeze went on to describe renting property to a church as something landlords might never recover, comparing it to giving the property as a religious offering.
“If you rent your empty land to church just know say you don’t use am do tithe and offering. Any land or house you rent to a church has become your tithe and offering. You no go see am collect back home.”
The media personality also invited landlords who had experienced similar situations to share their stories in the comment section.
“Anybody who gets experience may drop them under this comment section.”
Daddy Freeze maintained that property owners should consider the long-term interests of their children when making decisions about their assets. He argued that landlords should not put family property at risk by allowing it to become tied up in disputes.
He also referenced Acts 7:48 and Acts 17:24 while making his argument that God does not reside in buildings constructed by humans.
“This thing I’m saying I’m giving you a life-saving tip now. You might not like me but listen carefully. Your property is meant for your children to use, not for pastor to give your own children to hell because that church building is not the house of God.”
He added:
“The Bible is very clear, Acts chapter 7 verse 48 and Acts chapter 17 verse 24. God does not live in man-made temples.
“The church is your pastor’s real estate investment and what you should give your own children as their real estate investment you have handed it over to somebody else who will give his own children.”
