“Your Thanksgiving Offering Should Reflect Your Financial Status”- Pastor Says

- A pastor emphasizes the need for Christians to show appreciation to God through actions, not just words.
- Generous giving is highlighted as a key aspect of true thanksgiving.
- The pastor questions the sincerity of gratitude when offerings are minimal or absent.
A pastor has called on Christians to demonstrate their appreciation to God through more than spoken words, stressing the importance of generous giving as part of thanksgiving.
Speaking during a church service, the cleric noted that true gratitude should be accompanied by meaningful actions, including giving from one’s resources. He questioned the sincerity of thanksgiving when someone claims to be grateful but gives little or nothing as an offering.
The pastor further encouraged Christians to give according to their financial capacity, explaining that people who have been blessed financially should allow their level of prosperity to reflect in their thanksgiving offerings.
Sharing his personal experience, he revealed that he has presented thanksgiving offerings running into millions of naira, saying his own practice was an example of the kind of generosity he was encouraging among believers.
His words in part …
“It’s important for you to note this reality and note it very well. God is King of the whole earth. It is dishonouring to say you are grateful and your substance is not involved. You cannot thank God empty handed,, you have to thank God with substance, you can’t give God what you like or what you wish, if you have 2 cars and a house and millions in income, you cannot be giving like a tenant. If you’re grateful, your Thanksgiving offering should reflect your status. I started giving my thanksgiving offering in millions since yesterday. How did I get to this place…”
