The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kaduna State chapter and the Forum of Education Secretaries have backed Governor Uba Sani for a second term.
They called for the consolidation of gains in the basic education sector.
Addressing journalists in Kaduna yesterday, the chairman of the Forum of Education Secretaries, Adamu Mu’azu, said the group had reviewed developments across the 23 local government education authorities before passing a vote of confidence in the governor.
“Having reviewed the developments within our respective local government education authorities and the documented innovations presented in this statement, the Forum of Education Secretaries of the state passes a vote of confidence in the administration of His Excellency,” he said.
He said the forum had also resolved to support the continuation of the administration beyond 2027, describing the decision as an institutional position based on its assessment of developments in the education sector.
According to him, the administration’s interventions included the construction and rehabilitation of schools, provision of water and sanitation facilities, furniture, vocational facilities, instructional materials, teacher recruitment and capacity building.
Mu’azu said four bilingual education schools had been constructed in Igabi, Zaria, Kubau and Kudan, providing 192 new classrooms with capacity to accommodate about 7,680 learners.
He, however, said that sustaining the projects would require regular maintenance, adequate water and sanitation facilities, security, and the timely replacement of damaged facilities.
Also speaking, Vice Chairman of ALGON, Kaduna State chapter, and Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Dauda Madaki, who represented the state ALGON chairman, Sheikh Jamilu Abubakar, said local government chairmen had witnessed the impact of the administration’s education interventions firsthand.
“On behalf of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Kaduna State chapter, we join the Forum of Education Secretaries to celebrate the remarkable progress made in basic education across Kaduna State,” he said.
Madaki said local government leaders were witnessing increased enrolment, more classrooms, teacher training and deployment, and renewed confidence among parents in the state’s education system.
He commended Governor Sani for what he described as the political will and consistent investment in education. Madaki pledged ALGON’s continued support for community mobilisation, efforts to increase school enrolment, engagement with School-Based Management Committees and collaboration with the state government.
