Two people have been killed in separate attacks following a violent clash between youths in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, with the police arresting seven suspects in connection with the incident.
The violence occurred on Friday, September 4, 2026, after 29-year-old tricycle rider, Abdulrahman Nuru of Bundot area, Dass, was allegedly intercepted and attacked at Tudun Wus.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, preliminary investigations showed that Ibrahim El-Safwan, also known as Jabala’i, of Bayan Fada, allegedly conspired with accomplices to attack Nuru.

ommand’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said in a statement on Saturday that Nuru was allegedly stabbed with cutlasses on different parts of his body.
Habib said policemen attached to the Dass Division were mobilised to the scene after receiving the report, only to discover that personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had already taken custody of the tricycle and one suspect.
He said Nuru was rushed to the General Hospital, Dass, where a medical doctor later confirmed him dead.
The killing subsequently triggered a reprisal attack as youths from Bundot reportedly mobilised in large numbers, armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, and stormed Bayan Fada.
The police said the youths engaged residents of the area in a violent confrontation at an open space near the Dass Central Motor Park, during which 38-year-old Mukhtar Jibrin of Bayan Fada was stabbed.
Jibrin was taken to the General Hospital, Dass, and later referred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he was also confirmed dead.
The Command said its detectives intervened swiftly, contained the violence and restored normalcy in the area.
The seven suspects arrested over the incident are Umar Abubakar, 20, of Bayan Fada, identified by the police as the principal suspect; Blus Garba, 19; Adamu Muhammad, 17; Hussaini Danjuma, 17; Hassan Danjuma, 17; Shuaibu Sani, 17; and Aliyu Abdullahi, 18, all from Bundot.
The police said efforts were ongoing to arrest other suspects who are currently at large.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the killings and ordered a discreet and thorough investigation into the incident.
He appealed to residents of Dass to remain calm and law-abiding, warning them against taking the law into their own hands and assuring that justice would be served.
