“Elections In Nigeria Are Not Decided At Polling Units”- VDM Criticises Tinubu, Wike And Nigerian Political System

Social commentator VeryDarkMan has criticised Nigerian youths for their limited engagement with politics, warning that the political strategies of President Bola Tinubu and Nyesom Wike could have serious consequences for Nigeria’s future.

In a statement, VeryDarkMan criticised what he described as a pattern where young Nigerians only discuss politics when an issue is trending, while pointing to the political activities of President Bola Tinubu, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

His comments come amid renewed political discussions following the August 15 Osun State governorship election, which saw Adeleke defeat the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to retain his position as governor. Adeleke later met with President Tinubu and Wike after the election, further fuelling discussions about political alliances ahead of 2027.

VeryDarkMan argued that the political developments should concern young Nigerians, warning that politicians who are currently observing and learning from the existing system could shape the country’s future.

He said, “Nigerian Youths, You People Don’t Really Talk About Politics. You Only Do So For The Sake Of Talking And When It Is Trending. Look At The Way Nyesom Wike And President Bola Tinubu Are Running Politics In This Country. I Fear For The Future Of Nigeria.”

He continued, “The Politicians Who Are Watching And Learning From This Pattern Of Politics Will Eventually Finish What Is Left Of This Country. After This Generation Of Politicians, What Will Be Left Of Nigeria?”

The activist also referenced Wike’s statements about Adeleke before and after the Osun State election, using the development to question how much influence politicians have over the outcome of elections.
