Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has directed that illegal advertisements mounted on a bridge be removed once ongoing work on the structure is completed.
Umahi made the statement while speaking about the ongoing work on the bridge, noting that the structure would temporarily be decorated with pictures of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“For now, the bridge will be decorated with the pictures of President Tinubu. Once we are done with work on this bridge, I want all the illegal adverts on this bridge removed,” Umahi said.
The minister’s directive comes as part of efforts to ensure that the bridge is properly maintained and free from unauthorised advertisements after the completion of the rehabilitation or construction work.
His comment has also drawn attention to the growing presence of billboards and other forms of advertising on public infrastructure, with authorities increasingly seeking to regulate such displays.
