FUTA Pro-Chancellor Pays Homage to Deji of Akure, Gets Royal Blessing

The new Pro Chancellor, and chairman, Governing council of the Federal University of Technology Akure FUTA Dr, Olugbenga Awe,MD, on Wednesday September 2,2026 paid a courtesy visit to the paramount ruler of Akure Kingdom Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi.

The visit provided an opportunity for the new Pro-Chancelor to formally pay homage to the King , identify with the traditional institution and strengthen the cordial relationship between the University and the Akure Kingdom.

In a remark Dr Awe thanked the Deji for his warm welcome and all his efforts in ensuring a peaceful ambience that has enabled FUTA maintain its pride of place in the comity of higher institutions in Nigeria and beyond.

He described the role Oba Aladelusi continues to play in the realisation of the FUTA College of Health Sciences and Teaching hospital as commendable , signposting the progressive vision of the monarch.

He expressed his commitment to supporting the continued growth and development of FUTA while fostering a strong partnership with its host community.

Responding, Oba Aladelusi welcomed the Pro Chancellor and assured him that FUTA will continue to enjoy unalloyed support from the people and leaders of Akure kingdom.

The Deji Described the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji as exceptional and a great manager of people and resources saying that under her watch FUTA has remained peaceful and development oriented.

He wished the New Pro -Chancellor a fruitful time in office and promised that the relationship with FUTA can only wax stronger.

Speaking earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji thanked the monarch for always accommodating FUTA. Professor Oladiji stated that the peace enjoyed in FUTA can be traced back to the efforts of the king.

The vice Chancellor described the Deji as a father figure who has always been a strong pillar of support for FUTA.

Members of Council and principal officers FUTA were accompanied the Pro Chancellor on the courtesy visit.
