UK Court Fines Nigerian-Descent Footballer Jordon Ibe, Orders Community Service For Assault
Former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has been fined and sentenced to community service by a United Kingdom court after pleading guilty to assaulting his former girlfriend during an argument in South London.
The 30-year-old footballer was sentenced at the Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 4, 2026, after changing his plea to admit to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court heard that Ibe attacked his ex-partner, Amie Mayson, outside her Lambeth home on December 14, 2025, during a dispute over money, pulling out one of her hair braids and leaving her with a bald patch.
Presiding Magistrate Brij Kalia handed Ibe a 12-month community order requiring 80 hours of unpaid work and 27 days of rehabilitation activities.
The court also ordered the player to pay £764 in fines and legal costs.
Representing himself in court, the former England Under-21 international expressed remorse, describing his actions as a serious mistake for which he accepts full responsibility.
Ibe, who previously made 58 appearances for Liverpool before joining Bournemouth and later playing for Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Sofia, was arrested by Metropolitan Police officers at Luton Airport in January 2026 before his formal prosecution.
