The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna State Command has arrested four suspected vandals of high-tension electric aluminium cables at Dalhatu Village, Dutsen Abba, Wusasa, Zaria, and Sabon Gida Village, along the Kachia-Kaduna Road, Kaduna State.
In a statement, the State Commandant, Panam Musa Buba, said one of the suspects, Hassan Abdulkadir, who was arrested at Dalhatu Village, Dutsen Abba, Wusasa, Zaria, with a vandalised high-tension electric aluminium cable measuring approximately 360 metres, has been charged to court for prosecution.
“The other three suspects, Shammah Sunday, Age 32 (M), Bonnet Isaiah, Age 24 (M), and Livinus Usman, Age 26 (M), were arrested by operatives of the NSCDC and the Nigerian Army while on routine patrol along the Kachia-Kaduna Road.
“The suspects who were apprehended at Sabon Gida Village with a Volkswagen Golf 3, registration number Plateau MGU 169 HK, conveying the vandalized cables concealed under bags of charcoal, are still in the Corps’ custody pending investigation,” the statement said.
He reiterated the Kaduna State Command’s resolve to combat vandalism and protect critical infrastructure, while assuring that the Command will continue to work in close synergy with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders.
Buba warned vandals and other criminal elements that Kaduna State is not a safe haven for such activities, and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities around critical national assets and infrastructure to the nearest NSCDC formation.
