A newly married couple has reportedly found themselves at odds just hours after their wedding following a disagreement over a car gifted to the bride by her brother.
The incident was shared online by a woman who narrated how the vehicle was presented to the bride during the wedding reception, where the surprise gift reportedly attracted excitement from guests.
According to the narrator, the bride’s brother personally handed the car keys to his sister before congratulating her on her marriage. However, the celebratory moment allegedly took a different turn after the couple returned home from the wedding.
The husband was reportedly unhappy that the keys had been given directly to his wife and questioned why he was not the one given possession of the vehicle.
At first, the bride allegedly assumed her husband was only joking. She reportedly became concerned when he made it clear that he expected to be the one driving the car.
The husband was quoted as saying, “I am the man of this house. I will be the one driving this car to work.”
The bride reportedly explained that the vehicle was a personal gift from her brother and maintained that she had no intention of handing over the keys.
According to the account, the husband then allegedly asked her to either return the car to her brother or sell it and bring the money into their home.
The bride reportedly stood her ground, which allegedly angered her husband further. He was said to have accused her of showing him disrespect barely a few hours into their marriage.
The disagreement reportedly created tension between the newlyweds, with the couple unable to agree on who should have control of the vehicle despite the fact that it had been gifted directly to the bride.
The story has since sparked conversations about personal property, boundaries and financial expectations in marriage, particularly when one partner receives a significant gift from a family member.
