Judy Austin Spotted Leaving Court Amid N2bn Defamation Suits Against Rita Edochie And Mr Obasi

Nollywood actress Judy Austin was spotted at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, as her ongoing legal battles over alleged defamation came before the court.
Judy is currently pursuing two separate defamation suits against veteran actress Rita Edochie and her former husband, Emmanuel Obasi, with the cases involving claims running into more than N2 billion.
During the September 29 proceedings, the case involving Obasi was adjourned until November 24.
Judy had instituted the suit against her former husband in July, demanding N1 billion in general damages over alleged defamatory statements made against her.
According to the court documents, the actress is also seeking N500 million in aggravated damages and another N500 million in exemplary damages.
She further requested N100 million for the cost of the legal action and an additional N100 million for prosecuting the case.
In addition to the financial claims, Judy is asking the court to order Obasi to issue a full and unreserved retraction and apology.
She wants the apology published in at least two widely circulated national newspapers and shared across his social media platforms.
The actress is also seeking an injunction restraining Obasi and his agents from making further allegedly defamatory statements about her.
She has equally asked the court to direct the removal of all content she considers defamatory from his social media pages and other platforms.
