NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi has spoken against what he described as the “politics of rascality” in Nigeria, recalling how he treated political opponents during his time as Anambra State governor.
Obi made the statement while explaining his decision to attend the APM presidential inauguration, despite belonging to a different political camp.
“I don’t want the politics of rascality that they play in Nigeria. That’s why you see me attending the APM presidential inauguration. When I was governor, during my second tenure, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu came to campaign for Uche Ekwunife. We had lunch together, and I told him that it is the people who will determine who they want. When Fashola and Adams Oshiomhole came to campaign for my opponents, I gave them my convoy.”
The former governor said his approach to politics was based on allowing Nigerians to make their own choices rather than treating political opponents as enemies.
His comments have generated reactions online, with supporters praising his approach while critics questioned some of his claims.
