A female religious leader has sparked reactions online after appearing in a look that seems to have completely rewritten the familiar Nigerian “Mummy G.O.” dress code.
For years, the typical image associated with a Nigerian Mummy G.O. has been long, modest church dresses, oversized hats, little or no makeup and a generally conservative appearance.
But this one apparently did not get the memo.
She stepped out with long, straight platinum-blonde hair, full makeup and noticeable lashes, while wearing a bold beige blazer with black abstract patterns that looked more suited to a corporate fashion event than the traditional church image many Nigerians are used to.
To complete the scene, a suited man walked behind her holding an umbrella over her.
The unusual combination has since sparked jokes and comments online, with Nigerians questioning the identity of the church and the relationship between the two people seen together.
One user asked, “Na that small boy marry this mama?” while another simply wrote, “Business is moving well.”
