Ogun APC Guber Candidate Threatens Legal Action Against Hunye, Marcus-Bello Over Ekiti Indigeneship Allegation

Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the year 2027 election in Ogun State, Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan on Tuesday, threatened to institute legal action against two prominent politicians in the state over allegations of faking his state of origin to reflect Ogun State.

Adeola in a statement issued in Abeokuta and signed by his media adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, accused the duo of Hon. Abayomi Hunye, a parallel guber candidate of APC and Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of making libelous statement against his personality on a national television stations, wherein they alleged that he is an indigene of Ekiti State, but claiming Ogun State.

In the statement, copy of which was made available to LEADERSHIP, Adeola said both Hunye, who is a suspended member of APC from the Tube Ward in Ipokia Local Government Area and Marcus-Bello granted interviews on the said television programmes wherein they claimed that he was an Ekiti State indigene among other libelous claims without presenting any evidence to back up the allegations.

Claiming that both himself and members of his family were grossly embarrassed by the allegations, the Ogun APC guber candidate said the two politicians must within the next 24-hours, publicly present evidence of their allegations on his state of origin or face lawsuits on their false and libelous allegations on national television that was widely circulated on other media platforms.

“I watched in utter disbelief as these characters that I hardly know utter assertive and outrageous lies about my origin without any proof. One falsely claimed on TV that I am from Ekiti and when asked where exactly in Ekiti went moronically blank and could not provide an answer”.

“The other one was lying about the locations of the graves of my parents as if she was part of the undertakers at the burial all in a futile effort to justify an unsustainable falsehood”.

“Enough is enough. They should produce their evidence in 24 hours or be ready for my lawsuits”.

The APC guber candidate, who currently represents Ogun West Senatorial district at the National Assembly (NASS) said the rumour of his Ekiti State indigeneship was initially used as a propaganda tool to prevent his emergence in year 2023 when he was seeking to represent the senatorial district, but eventually failed to fly.

“This resurrection of the falsehood is pursuant of his seemingly unstoppable move to a victorious outing in the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State”.
