Operatives of the Ogun State Command of Nigeria Police Force on Friday, arrested a 43-years old fleeing man identified as Edebiri Temitope who clubbed his neighbour to death over allegation of engaging in “rough play” with his 3-years old son.
A highly infuriated Edebiri allegedly struck his 38-years old victim, Mike Oje with bamboo stick repeatedly till he collapsed and died at Mowe, a satellite town in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state before going into hiding with his family.
In a statement issued in Abeokuta, the state capital and signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oluseyi Babaseyi, the suspect was said to have accused lateOje of hugging and playing with his 3-year old child son prior till the time he could no longer control his anger, but resulted to striking him with the bamboo stick.
“The father who was said to have been infuriated by what he described as Mike’s “rough play,” grabbed a bamboo stick, and repeatedly struck him until he collapsed and died.”
The Ogun PPRO however, disclosed that the suspect was arrested after his initial escape and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
