Police Issue Nationwide Alert Over Possible Terror!$t Att@ck$ On Schools, Churches, NYSC Camps

The Nigeria Police Force has issued a nationwide security alert over intelligence indicating possible coordinated terrorist att@cks on schools, worship centres, NYSC orientation camps and other vulnerable locations.

The warning was contained in a police wireless message dated September 13, 2026, issued by the Force Department of Operations in Abuja and circulated to Commissioners of Police and other formations nationwide.

According to the message, parts of the North-East, North-West, North-Central and South-West are areas of concern.

The police said intelligence indicated the movement of armed elements from Katsina through Kaduna towards Plateau State, while suspected ISWAP operatives and local collaborators were allegedly conducting surveillance of potential targets.

The Force expressed particular concern over learning institutions, warning that att@cks could coincide with the resumption of the 2026/2027 academic session and potentially result in mass casualties.

Police also warned that terrorists could attempt to exploit the period leading up to the 2027 general elections to destabilise communities and create widespread fear.

Commanders were directed to intensify surveillance, patrols, stop-and-search operations, access control and rapid-response measures, while security around borders, entry and exit routes was also ordered to be strengthened.

The police further directed commanders to work with other security agencies, school authorities, religious leaders and NYSC management to improve intelligence sharing and establish early-warning mechanisms.
