The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned 20-minute interruption of electricity supply in parts of Suleja and neighbouring areas of Niger State on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The company said the interruption is part of its annual preventive maintenance programme on the Gwarinpa-Suleja 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgear and associated equipment.
According to a statement issued on Friday, the maintenance is scheduled to take place between 1pm and 4pm.
TCN said customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and surrounding areas would be affected.
The company explained that the temporary outage would be necessary to enable the transfer of load from the Gwarinpa-Suleja Line 2 to the Kubwa-Suleja Line 1.
It said the transfer would allow engineers to carry out the maintenance safely without subjecting the affected areas to a prolonged power outage.
“Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will experience a 20-minute interruption of power supply only to customers in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and environs,” TCN said.
The transmission company added that the interruption was required to facilitate the maintenance exercise efficiently and ensure the reliability of the transmission network.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the planned interruption might cause.
It said the preventive maintenance programme was aimed at sustaining the reliability and performance of the transmission network.
