South African police have discovered the body of another woman in Ekurhuleni, bringing to 10 the number of women whose bodies have been found in the municipality over the past two months.
The latest discovery was made on Saturday, September 26, in Tembisa South, east of Johannesburg. Police have not yet released the woman’s identity or further details about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili confirmed that investigators and other relevant personnel were at the scene.
“At this stage, we can only confirm the discovery of the body. Crime scene management and all the necessary role players are currently on the scene,” she said.
Police Examine Possible Connections
The latest case comes as authorities continue investigating a series of deaths involving women across Ekurhuleni since July.
Police are examining the circumstances surrounding each case to determine whether there are any connections. However, authorities have not confirmed that the deaths are linked.
Investigators are expected to establish the identity of the latest victim and determine the circumstances of her death as the investigation continues.
The growing number of cases has heightened concerns about violence against women in South Africa, where gender-based violence remains a major public safety issue.
