“The Problem Is The Youths”- Isaac Fayose Reacts To Peter Obi’s Reported Ordeal In Benue

- Isaac Fayose, a Nigerian politician and businessman, criticized youths in Benue State.
- The criticism followed reports of these youths blocking the convoy of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Development Party (NDC).
- The incident took place on September 8, 2026, during Obi’s visit to express condolences to families affected by a recent attack.
Nigerian politician and businessman Isaac Fayose has criticised some youths in Benue State following reports that they allegedly blocked the convoy of New Nigeria Development Party (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, as Obi was said to be travelling to the state to sympathise with families affected by a recent attack that claimed the lives of several residents.
Reacting to the development, Fayose expressed disappointment over what he described as the misplaced priorities of some Nigerian youths, arguing that poverty and hardship have contributed to the manipulation of young people.
“The actual problem we are facing in Nigeria right now is the youths, not even our politicians. They have used poverty to destroy the minds of several youths. How can you, as a youth, allow people to kill your family members and continue killing your people, yet you are stopping Peter Obi from entering? You people can’t even stop the terrorists who are k!ll!ng your people.”
Fayose questioned why young people would allegedly prevent a political figure from visiting communities affected by violence while, according to him, failing to direct similar energy toward those responsible for attacks on residents.
His comments have added another layer to the controversy surrounding the reported incident, with the role of youths in Nigeria’s political and social affairs once again coming under scrutiny.
