Actress Tonto Dikeh has marked the remembrance of her mother with a heartfelt Instagram post, describing it as one of the most painful days of her life.
Rather than mourn her mother’s death, Dikeh chose to celebrate her life.
She spoke about her mother’s strength, beautiful heart, unwavering faith and the way she carried herself before God.
Dikeh reflected on spending 37 years without knowing what it felt like to call someone Mom, and how she now understands how precious that word truly is.
She urged the public to cherish their parents while they’re still alive.
She told people to honour their mothers, love them, appreciate them and call them often.
She encouraged people to hold their parents a little tighter and to forgive small disagreements because one day those little fights and expressions of love become the memories people wish they could experience again.
Dikeh said that stepping into God’s grace has taught her to trust the Lord even in deep pain and to surrender to His will.
She ended her message by saying that wherever her mother is, she hopes she knows she is loved, missed and forever carried in her heart.
