Turkey: Iheanacho scores in sixth straight game for new club
Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has maintained his remarkable scoring streak this season.
The former Celtic attacker netted twice again in Bursaspor’s 2-1 victory over Manisa at the Manisa 19 Mayıs Stadium on Monday evening.
Iheanacho, who made his move to the Turkish club during the summer transfer window, equalised for the visitors just seven minutes after Cheikne Sylla had given Manisa the lead in the 20th minute.
The Nigerian international skilfully manoeuvred past multiple defenders at the edge of the penalty area before striking the ball past goalkeeper Vedat Karakuş into the bottom corner.
Iheanacho added another goal in stoppage time after the regular 90 minutes, ensuring that the Green Crocodiles claimed all three points.
The Super Eagles player capitalised on a mistake by Karakuş, reacting swiftly to slot the ball into the net from close range.
This brace has extended his impressive scoring streak since the commencement of the 2026/2027 Turkish 1. Lig season following his transfer to the Centennial Atatürk Stadium, with the striker scoring in six consecutive matches.
Overall, the former Celtic striker has scored a total of eight goals and provided two assists in the first six matches of the new season.
